Accepting inventory

Recently I've had inventory sent to me by friends. I've received email notification telling me that I have been offered inventory and that I should log in to accept or decline. In the past I've had to do exactly that when I've logged in, but on the last two or three occasions I haven't been given the choice - the item (s) have been added to my inventory without any in-world notification. Had I not checked my mail before login, I would have been unaware that I had been given anything.

Is this a new feature? If so, I don't find it that helpful. If not, presumably it's a bug?

If it is a new feature, does it apply only where inventory is offered by someone on my friends list? If I was offered inventory by someone who was not on the list, would I still have to accept or decline as I have done in the past? If not, this seems to be something of a security risk, as someone intent on disrupting the grid could well send out multiple scripted objects to unsuspecting resis who would have no idea of the time bomb in their inventory.

Francesca, thanks for writing in about this. I'll check deeper into not getting inventory received notifications; I've heard related issues from fellow Resis. This goes on my Resident Experience task list this week!

In the meantime, here's an additional tip: in Inventory window, click the Recent Items tab. Then, go to Filters menu > Modify Current.

See where it says "Hours Ago" and "Days Ago"? You can set those to see what you got... most recently!

I use this sometimes. Unfortunately the feature doesn't persist between logins so you have to change the filter settings each time (an open issue is already on-file to make them *stick*).

Hope this will help you. :)

[UPDATE] I just tried to repro this and could not -- I got the blue dialog boxes and text in my chat history just as I expected them:
[18:01] 2086 Tester gave you Torley's 1st Skirt.
[18:01] 2086 Tester gave you Some Bamboo.
If you're still having this prob, please bug report it inworld: Help menu > Report Bug with the step-by-step instructions. You can email me with the # of the bug (which you will get in an emailed auto-reply after you send the report). :)
