Alts and costs

As I understand if you sign up for an account with SL, the first one is free, but additional alts would be required to pay the monthly fee. Makes sense.

Now, if I have my primary charachter which is loaded up on land and other things, thus paying teir and membership fees, if I were to get an alt now, I'd have to pay for it as well, or is the 1 free account free floating?

Thanks for asking. "Basic" accounts do not at this time include an access fee or recurring charges for access to the Service for the first Basic Access account per unique user. Subsequent Basic accounts do require the $9.95 signup fee. If you upgrade your first, you are not then eligible for another.
