Hello, I am the owner of Contessa Shops in Algira and I can't even work in my shop due to lag issues. I cannot assist my customers without getting stuck in chat, falling through the floor, or experiencing a system crash while trying to move about the shop. In addition, I see gray when i'm trying to work on a simple low prim skirt.

First let me say that I know that the issue is not my computer. So please don't tell me that I need an upgraded graphics card, more memory, or a better source of connection.

I have asked Linden Help to assist and they did help quickly and with their best resources. After having a look at possible culprits, I was provided with this list of running scripts that my neighbors are using on March 4th and was told that the running scripts were causing the issue. In addition, I was told by my live helper that the lag issues are not caused by what I have in my shop (while the Linden helper was stuck in my floor.) The issues were pointed out to me on following list...

When I contacted live help again to see who I needed to talk to in order to resolve this problem, I was asked if I had talked with my neighbors about their running scripts.

This is my point... If all types of running scripts are allowed to be used per Linden Labs decision making, then it is not up to me to ask my neighbors not to use them so that I can continue to run my small business period. It is however up to Linden Labs to support the weight of what is being used. We are all paying real money and purchasing Linden to enjoy our Second Life experiences. Who am I to tell my neighbor what and what not to do?

Knowing that I can no longer work and operate my small business due to basically being paralized by this issue, I did email Philip Rosedale and asked if there is anything that Linden Labs can do to provide resolution to this issue on March 5th, and will wait for his response. I will continue to post progress here.

Talk to me people. Am I the only one facing this issue?

HELLO CARLY! I'M TALKING TO YA. :)

I hear ya, and let's have a look at this now...

okay, "lag issues" needs to be specified. You know how it is when someone says "my car is broken"? Or "I am sick"? Well, you start to wonder, just what is broken, or what's the root of the illness?

There is an unhealthy fear of "bad scripts" in Second Life. But first, let's get the important stuff explained, would not want to leave you in the dark.

I went to Algira.

Performance, when I was there, was GOOD! I emphasize that. I've attached a screenshot, and minor fluctuations are expected. What do the numbers mean? Find out more in the Statistics Bar guide here! Inshort, if:
Time Dilation = close to 1.00, 0.99 is very normal
Sim FPS = close to 45
all the Time (ms) at the bottom = less than 22 ms
your region is likely in GOOD SHAPE. If your Time Dilation drops to 0.80 or something and then bounces back in a few secs, that's normal. I've seen that in Algira--I was just there the other day! Don't strive for a peak number, necessarily, but consistency.

Those scripts are not troublesome either. A lot of numbers may look intimidating to some, but the actual Script Time when I checked, as you can see in the photo, is healthy.

Compare with: go to a packed club island with, like, 50 avatars there, and look at the stats. You will get a better feel.

Hey, if Algira's Sim FPS drops to single-digits and stays there and doesn't get any better, go back on Live Help and ask for a Linden Liaison and it will be taken care of ASAP.

And you asked:

Second Life is a social world. There is absolutely nothing wrong, and absolutely everything right, with learning and bettering yourself and others. More happiness is better for the community. Some people simply aren't aware when there's a problem, and in good neighborly fashion, if you can both be educated about topics at-hand, that is faaar better than the alternative: ignorance.

I wish you all the very best with this Carly! :D
