Sorry Linden Labs to dispell that notion but something you introduced in 1.8 has increased packet loss thus lag. I am not a computer expert but I know that before 1.8 I had minimum packet loss but now I have 1%.

I have done the trace etc and it all points to SL as the culprit and not my ISP or my firewall so please don't refer me there.

As some other person pointed out, when there appears to be a problem affecting a majority of your customers, why do you say that it is a end user problem instead of providing us good service? Please fix it. Thanks.

I have had higher packet loss lately (sometimes up to 5% after an extended session, viewable from HELP menu ---> ABOUT SECOND LIFE) which makes me unhappy... it seems to have accumulated over the last few months, but I think it may relate to living out here in the Canadian forest. I'm not on wifi or satellite, but there've been some construction projects moving outwards, so maybe that shook some connections loose, who knows--but I want to find out so I've been searching for info.

Sounds like you've already done a lot of tracking down. "Lag" is like saying "a broken car". It can be wrong in many ways, like a flat tire, or worn brake lines, or no engine.

I'm at a loss for recommending you further specifics without seeing something like your tracert results, I'm sorry Susie, but as you know, there's inworld HELP ---> LIVE HELP, Technical Issues forum, and support if you want to see what other options are available. Perhaps if you know other Resis who live geographically near you, or better yet, use the same ISP nearby, it may help connect the commonalities of how many are affected. Get as much technical data as possible.

Once you show us what a problem there is, it'll be far easier to fix! :)
