I have been experiencing some odd texture rezzing problems for the past couple of weeks. About 50-70% of the textures I see are incompletely downloaded (I.E.: all blurry and malformed). If I click or hover my mouse over the item in question, the texture will finish downloading- otherwise, 30 minutes later its still blurry. That is, it *never* completes downloading unless I force it to.
This is within a private sim with 2 or 3 agents active. The bandwidth use indicator in the SL client is "flat" (I.E.: no activity). The machine I use to play SL is more than adequate to the task: AMD Athlon x2 4600+, ATI X1950 XTX, 4 GB of RAM, dual 10,000 RPM SATA3 hard drives. I have installed the AMD Dual Core optimizer utility, and that made no difference. I'm running the most recent ATI video card drivers (I originally had Catalyst 6.8, and later upgraded to 6.9). Interestingly, I didn't notice this behavior until I upgraded my machine about two weeks ago- confusingly, this upgrade corresponded to major increases in grid load, so its hard to know which might be the culprit.
Even more disconcerting: if I click on an object and its textures rez fully, then turn away from it (so it is out of sight)...quite often its textures will once again "de-rez" within a fe minutes.
Is the behavior I am describing a "bug", and should I report it as such? Or is this a "feature" of the current grid load problems and some sort of throttling mechanism that has been put in place?
