In the comments to Torley`d blog post Thank you for visiting our blog! :), the question was raisedFrom: nicevil I have a question. What happens to your character in Second Life if you die in your Real Life ? What happens to all your items and property ? Who inherits it ? Maybe Second Life should have a system that allows you to write your will. All that time and effort invested in Second Life shouldn’t go to waste. Don’t you think ? I wrote a piece about death in an online world. Do read it if you’d like. http://nicevilblogs.wordpress.com/2006/09/12/virtual-worlds-taking-over-real-worlds/ Torley informs us that no such policy exists. I would like to point out that a policy for this does exist. I have read about it somewhere on your website. Alas, I forget just where.

Hi Llauren -- to avoid confusion, I did *not* say that. I said: "I’m not aware that we have a policy on that yet since, while tragic, it is pretty rare." Which doesn't exclude the future possibility of a policy and increased awareness. If there was a place it would be stated, the Terms of Service would be appropriate. Please email me if you find a source on the website.
