"Disaster Plans" for SL and its users

Alright, we all have disater plans for our homes. What to do in case of a fire, a flood, hurricane, etc. Things like how to get out by different routes, what to take, what to do on the way out, and where to meet, along with many other bits of information.

It seems to me SL and LL would benifit from making such for virtual world disasters and emergencies.

LL might already have plans for grid attacks, and for how thier tech staff to handle them, but the average user probably doesn't have a clue what to do for themselves or to help LL and the grid.

I would sugget plans for things like griefing and grid-wide attack, and any other LL thinks are relevent.

Things I personally can think of for a grid-wide problem are::
1) A canned meassage/warning from a Linden to be sent grid-wide when the attack is noticed. Basically saying that there is an attack and that LL is working on it. This would let people know what is going on and enable them to take any needed steps from there, as well as to know to look to the forums for further information.
2) Ceasing of transactions and rezzing of objects (which may become lost in the shuffle).
3) Ceasing of all scripts/particles/etc/etc that may put more of a strain on the grid (Not sure what all would cause stress here myself, or if this would help, but makes sense to me)
4) Logging out as a last resort (or first resort). Allowing Inworld Lindens to handle the problem and further reducing stress on the grid.

I'm no computer expert by far, and I'm sure LL can think of many things to add to the list that I can't. You may already have thought of the list, but sometimes the simple things sneak by when focusing on the complex.

Oh, and please try to keep the language simple. Not all of us can speak technese ^.~

Nice idea Jessy! We have plans for handling DOS attacks on the grid, but I agree the communication could be better. I'm not sure what the residents can do to help, so I'll look into that one.
