Why on earth did you change the sign up Method?

Why did you change the sign up method so that people don't have to use a credit card? Now anyone can sign up no matter what age.

I woke up this morning to hundreds of burning flames around my shop on the 1/2 a sim i rent. The guy who did it has no payment info on file. A newly created character. I've lost sales, my money tree couldnt create any money, the lag was horrendous. This has happened so far at least 3 times a week. I'm running out of ban space.

On my island which I own, which is currently still under construction, I am getting at least 3 newbies a day with no payment info on file, coming and leaving crap around everywhere, asking me for sex, calling all my friends gay, generally being abusive, and acting like 10 year olds. I could very easily ban them with that new feature, but I dont really want to ban people with no payment info on file, as I'm sure some must be genuine adults, plus im trying to run a business here.

I've also noted in the Concierge channel, loads of people complaining about the same things.

My point is, there are people now coming every day, and it's so obvious they are kids. Half the kids in my sons class at school have tried to sign up for SL now, and hes only 10. Although I wont let him sign up for it.

With the immense adult content and sex industry in SL, arent you Lindens letting yourself in for numerous law suits involving underage kids? I wonder how many people in SL are having online sexual relantionships with children, who are lying about their age now?? Would they get sued over that if parents found out? What is the logic behind this?

Basically I'm just getting really sick of all this. Before the sign up method was changed, I very rarely had any trouble. Before only a few kids got through, with this change, you've just gone and opened the door.

I agree with ya about people just coming in with out credit cards. But the thing is the game it self is rated M for mature. You need be 17 - 18 max to play or buy rated M games. And nothing things is you can buy prepaid credit cards at any store and put it down as a credit card on info.

LAND: just set your shore/sim to nobuild. If there build outside a sims ask the landowner to do somthing about it or go rent some where elss. But now if your renting land in a sim that owns a Sandbox. You know theres going be n00bs running around spamming random laggy crap.

Hi Leah and LaZy, this sounds like questions that were asked 2-3 weeks ago. Robin Linden addressed a number of those issues on her blog:

Since then, some things have come to pass. Notice you can now restrict access based on payment status in About Land > Access.

We've got a lot of exciting anti-griefing tools coming on the way, including uppin' the avatar ban # on parcels to 300, push restrictions so you can't be shoved around, and more muting--including, yes, the long-fabled true audio mute.
