Government?

It would be great if there was a government in place that would be in charge of controlling and enforcing the law of the land, and a way for citizens to vote on new laws.

I appears that there is no one, not even Linden Labs, who can enforce the wrong doings of others. That hinders the ability to be productive in SL. For example, if i make a contract with someone in SL, who is there to enforce that contract?

Also, if i were to start a bank there would be nothing to protect the citizens or the the bank itself from wrong doing. So what do you think about creating some sort of regulatory body?

Jesse, a warm welcome to Second Life -- you may be most interested in reading up on this topic, as there's significant and extensive history to it.

Try this archived forum, you can't post ot it but tons of background here:

In short, we don't have any plans to govern gridwide -- in part due to this being a Resident-run world (we are more akin to overseers than kingpins). But we do encourage Residents to form ther own leadership. That may sound like an abstract, but there are so many forms governance can take, and a lot to emerge which hasn't happened yet.
