The *unplanned* downtime on the SL site/game is fairly extended and of great frequency. No, this isn't mentioned when they advertise SL Real life-based businesses should note the frequency of the interruptions/the inconveniences, the extreme unusabilitiy (lag) of this product. Is it bad enough to hurt rl/based business on SL? Frequent enough to not yet rely on SL as a facet of your business plan. I lost around $1,500 x 3 in revenue from a series of grid attacks a while back. Since reality-based ventures are here/SL, I hope that a reality-based compensation for services paid for and not rendered is as well. Since a meeting of a consulting firm and myself was made null because of past and recent unplanned and *extended* downtime, I was wondering if LL has, as a present or future policy, a discount for the failure/downtime of its product . The demographics of SL has a large group of tech-savvy griefers as one of the more fascinating and *time on their hands* groups. Buyers into RL/SL business ventures will be in for a rough ride if more security isn't beefed up as well. But since this has been going on for over a year (my personal tenure here) I can't say that a response from this company is or has been forthcoming for enhanced security. So, a second question is, will it be? Thx, and luck to all!

Jefferson, I do appreciate your frustration about the recent unplanned downtime. The recent grid attacks have been very difficult for everyone within the community and also for us at Linden Lab. We agree that it is unacceptable to have this type of malicious activity within our world. In response to this question, Robin has outlined our security plan in this blog post, please take a moment to read about our plans which are already in motion.
