This was posted in another thread:

"6. Linden interjection (Grid Moderator IM Intercept) by XXXX Linden made XXX XXXXX return the stolen slots upon intercepting his IM admitting he took them. "

I too had an IM interjected by a linden. I was in an IM with Linden A, and Linden B jumped in. However, that was in a live help chat.

So lindens can just browse around in the pool of IMs and spy on whoever they want to? I know in the TOS it states something about it being possible for our IMs to be read/stored and such.

But this raises concern especially with hiring other SL residents as lindens. What if I had an enemy and they get hired as a linden and take time out to sit and read my IMs, then log onto their alt and bother me. And what type of personal information do lindens have access to? My address, etc? Again, what if an enemy is hired and goes and takes my personal info to get revenge. This isnt only fear of an enemy being ill but there are a TON of psycho stalkers in SL.

I dont necessarily have any enemies but Im curious to know if its possible for lindens to just jump from IM to IM and read whats going on, and what of my personal info do they have access to?

Sorry if I have it all wrong and am just ignorant, but hey that`s the purpose of asking :D

Thanks :)

Hi Jesseaitui,

In "Help Request," all the Linden Liaisons as well as Resident volunteers can see all of the different incoming help requests. This allows them to jump in and help whoever needs assistance at any given time.

We have a very strong culture at LL that respects privacy. At no time would any Linden ever "monitor" someone's private IMs between different Residents just for "fun." Same goes for any Resident's personal information (RL registration info, billing address, etc.). We treat all that information very much like how physicians treat a patient's private medical record. Unless there is a very important reason to access it (such as to resolve a billing problem), such information is strictly "off limits" to all Lindens.

Take care,
-Pathfinder
