Improvements to Search facilities

I am wondering whether there are any improvements to the "search" facilities planned.

As well as being able to filter in words, it would be nice to be able to filter them out as well, so for example by using '-sex' we could exclude all places that include that as part of their desecription.

Also, the "popular places" list is not truly reflective of quality, and is mostly populated by whole islands offering other people's stuff (such as Tringo games) rather than people who exploit the true potential of the creativity that Second Life has.

As there are various 'property categories' already in existance in SL, is it possible to allow us to filter the most popular gathering place or store, for example, instead of one list which is probably bringing up completely irrelevant items. The ability to filter out "Mature" rated properties would be an essential retention.

A simple drop down menu filter for popular places, in a similar way to the regular places menu, would be more than adequate for the task.

Is this achieveable?

We currently don't have a project for that. But seeing as how many search engines do it and people come to expect it--it definitely would be useful!

Please do send me any other Resident links and Feature Voting Proposals. As before, I aggregate everything that's been said, especially if it has a long and winding historical basis (and is getting long in the tooth and really should be done), and communicate this with the developers.

Eventually, the Resident Experience team will hopefully be looking at improvements to Search, including those which may require low dev time but result in high impact.
