Question about events posting

I always thought that whether or not you could post an event for a particular piece of land depended on certain things like whether you owned it or it was owned by a group you were a member of, etc.

When I go to post an event I've noticed it shows me a list of 48 places I am apparently allowed to post for. 30 of them are places I've never even heard of. Here are just a few examples of land I am apparently allowed to post events for:

Teen Grid Transfer Station in Baffin

Protected Land in Siona

Linden Land aka Torley's in Montara

A few of the lands I'm allowed to post events for are even people's private homes. This means I could actually post a big money/combat/bring your own gun type event that would draw in a ton of people and set the location for some poor sucker's private home and let them have to deal with all the people teleporting in confused and looking for the event.

Someone suggested to me that perhaps the list is based on who is on my friend list (though I still fail to see how that would apply to my having access to the Teen Grid Transfer STation) I certainly hope this isn't the case. If I'm allowed to post events for all of these places simply because someone connected to them happens to be on my friend list... That means that we now have to be a whole lot more careful who we trade friend cards with.

Please some more detailed explanation for how this works and why I have 30 lands I can post events for that I've never even been to or heard of? Is the event posting ability connected to the friends list or the groups one is in or both?

The examples that you list are simply land set as "Linden Locations". The same parcels that show up when you log into Second Life and go to Search > Places tab. These include a variety of public stages available as a service to the community. Some of them are perhaps more focused for that purpose than others: for example, Pooley and Oak Grove stages.

I've suggested before that there should be a separator with those places listed in a different section--perhaps below the land you're personally eligible.

I note right now that going to post an event, the Event Posting Rules, which give details for what land appears in list, don't show up (!). Also a known bug. :O

Let me make another note of this and perhaps it can be done.

Hope this helps. :)
