Can you please be more open with us with what the problems are after you have identified them? There have been an aweful lot of problems recently, but the blogs don't fill us in, which just leads to people guessing and unconfirmed rumors running rampant. Here are the most recent problems that were not explained: 11/12/06 - Sim and Asset Issues Resolution - It says in the blog that the network problems have been identified, but doesn't state what they were. 11/6/06 - Sunday network issues update - It says in the blog that "We have been dealing with two separate network problems. ... there was an overload condition in one of the routers. ... we are sometimes seeing unreliable internet connectivity which is triggering similar problems." Yet this doesn't even match the problem on sunday of several regions rebooting (11/5/06). And what you actually fixed (one of your routers) doesn't match what you stated was found in the previous post "We are continuing to experience some network issues which are external to the SecondLife grid" (11/5/06) So I, and I'm sure many others, would appreciate it very much if you could clear this confusion up... 1] please explain what exactly was found to be wrong, and what exactly was fixed 2] please put an end to the rumors and finally state yes/no as to whether the increased customer base is causing the problems (ie. please be frank with us if you are having scalability issues). Thank you

Hey Gargling,
I'm sorry if some of the announcements sound a bit too general. There are a couple reasons for this...
The primary reason is that some of the issues are so highly technical and specific to the inner workings of SL that they would mean little or nothing to most people (myself included) and would likely result in more questions than we could answer in order make crystal clear the actual issues.
Second, some of the info related to network overload could be used for EVIL! We don't want to provide too much info to folks who might be interested in using it to create DOS type attacks.
Increased customer base is what you could call a "happy problem". Of course we love to see more people in SL because it means more creators, more consumers, more LIFE in Second Life. Concurrency of 14000+ definitely exacerbates issues related to database load, but can't be said to be directly responsible. So Yes and No. How's that for a general answer? Currently we believe scaling to be a key issue, and projects related to increasing SL's capacity are in progress. If serious problems are directly the result of our falling behind in this area, we will be sure to be up front about it.
