In this grid attack, I was fortunate and didn't lose anything. Others were not so lucky and I have lsot items in the past due to this problem.
Our inventory database is stored on LL servers. This frees our computers and (I'm guessing here) probably reduces streaming from SL to client.
It also opens up the chance for lost items.
Would it be possible to allow us to retain copies of our inventories as backups?
Basically a way for us to create a file on our computer and send a request to save what is in our inventories there. This would be a ONE WAY data flow. Outgoing. The only way to usetilize these backup inventories would be to contact LL (via the forums. a new thread such as the SLLM thread could be used for such requests).
Some security measures would ahve to be put in place to prevent fiddling with this file (yes, the inventory is ours and we can make anything, but some things in our invnetory aren't made by us).
While this might seem to be laying down for swamping LL with "I lost my puppy! I want him back!" requests, LL could also put conditions on when requests could even be made. Such as after a major grid attack, or sim crash, where the instability of data flow would be able to recorded by LL.
I could probably make this more clear, but I just woke up *Grins* I'm sure you get the concept though. *waves and sips coffee and wanders off into SL to see if the sky is back in place after falling*
