As I coaxed my bf and a few of my friends to SL, I noticed that the list of available last names toggles. I'd really like to make a second account, but I want an ideal last name, the current list, as long as it is, simply doesn't have anything I find appealing. There were a few names in the past week that I really liked, but not having jumped at the opportunity they have since disappeared. As I understand, the list of names changes periodically? I am curious as to how often the list of last names available for registration toggles? And if such knowledge isn't top secret, exactly how many lists of names are there? Or do I have it wrong and are the names randomly generated as a list with no definate structure day-to-day?  |

Second Life last names are generally 'retired' after 300 uses, and the actual lenght of the list varies from day to day as older names are retired and new names are added.
Some names last only a few days, while others might stay in the list for weeks or months. In an average week, 50-60 names are added with a similar number of new name added.
