Parcel Insecurity

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm sick of flying around a sim to keep bouncing off security perimeters, but I also appreciate their uses. What I would like to see however is a slight (?) revision of the system which can't be hard, surely?

1) If a parcel is protected, ie NO ENTRY or BUY PASS, don't let people move their cameras in there. Please!
2) Ban heights are low enough for us to fly over, but in some cases still a lot higher than we need. Can you make it so we can set the height? Maximum setting being as it is at the moment? That would allow some awesome secure systems in conjunction with 1) where we could have secret rooms under the floor that nobody can look into but can easily walk over!
3) Ban/Access Lists are great, but more limited than could be. It's great that you allow us to allow/ban people by their payment status, but how about if we can allow our friends list, or if we could add groups as well as names or the group that owns the land?

Three simple ideas I'm sure. I know the system (presumably the client) needs to know the maximum height of ban lines, but you could very easily add a detail to parcels where if default is not selected that overrides this height. Also very valuable would be a minimum height so we could walk UNDER such an area, protecting skyboxes but not the ground underneath, maybe then with a maximum 100m upwards allowed, so a box at 500m could be completely protected. Sure, kills the market for some home security devices but what a way to do it!

Cheers

Hey Landing, if you look back through forum archives, these have come up frequently. A lot of history to them. :)

Inshort, from what I understand, blocking the camera is a lot more difficult than one would think it is.

Customizable ban heights have been discussed before (e.g., "draw a selection rectangle of sorts to specify max/min height) but there hasn't emerged a clear preference for that over the current system from the community.

(3) has some good ideas about flexibility. What ticks me off is those lists are so dang vertically short, ya know? If you have lots of names on there, what a pain to scroll through.

For these and more feature suggestions, please don't hesitate to use the Feature Voting Tool and get lots of support from fellow Residents who feel the same way you do -- that will help boost it up, and when I'm talking to our Developers, I'll be able to point to how much you guys want it. I can't guarantee it but at the very least, it makes a formal record that can easily be accessed so we can be aware.
