XML UI Questions

Recently in the town hall you mentioned that the conversion of the UI to XML was completed. I was wondering, now that the UI is XML based, would it allow for a user definable layout? Like, say we wanted all of our camera movement buttons to be added to our minimap window, or integrating the IM window and the chat buffer.

Another question would be, could this XML be applied to the dialog box to change its look and layout? Possibly even letting us, gasp, texture it?

Response:
Well, good to know you can change the layouts within the windows. I would hope eventually that the XML UI will allow total customization if a user so wanted.

In resposne to the texturing of the dialog, no, I was thinking about redesigning the dialog that others would see. Showing a pretty, transparent menu for instance with buttons not in the usual locations (like a vertical layout design).

Currently it is possible to modify the layouts of various windows - look in Second Life/skins/en-US/ for the different XML files.

It is not currently possible to move elements from one window to another. You can change how the camera movement window looks, but you can't add camera movement buttons to any other window or UI element.

All of these settings are local only, so you could change the dialog box to be a different color or have a texture - but only you would see the change. (Which may be all you want, I'm just trying to be precise).

This is not possible with xmlui.
