Concerning the reasons why quicktime media urls can't be assigned to multiple prims faces instead of to one texture within a parcel Kelly replied: From: someone Only 1 quicktime media can be played at any one time. Limiting it to a parcel setting seems the clearest and simplest way to maintain this limitation. I take it you mean that quicktime is only capable of producing one image at a time, as opposed to a limitation imposed by choice of Linden Lab. I don't recall testing, if you run two clients on one machine and stand in two different parcels with different media urls, does only one of them work? Sad if one is truly a hard limit, but even so.... Couldn't a limit of one be accomplished just as well by a media url field in a user's profile? It should be possible to configure this is some fashion to allow one to watch and share the media url from a profile much as one does with parcels now.

We're investigating some further possibilities re: enhancements to Resident profiles, not exactly what you suggest, but they should be very welcome additions. More news to come soon, I hope.

Torley: shush!
If you run 2 clients you will indeed be able to see different video streams for each.
It is a limitation in how QT had to be strangled into integration with SL. It is in some respects unfortunate but it is not likely to change.
Right now QT streams, as well as audio streams, are one of the benefits of owning land in SL.
However, the embedded Mozzilla code is somewhat nicer behaved, may someday support plugins, and is more likely to be able to be viewed on multiple surfaces at once.
I'm not sure what your specific goals are but here are some thoughts about QT and huds: - It is possible to set via script a specific texture and a specific url on a per user basis. It is possible for example for every user on a parcel to watch a different QT stream on the same texture, or on different textures. - This should work for textures on huds as well, although I think these streams can only be set by scripts owned by the parcel owner.
This means that it should be possible to craft an experience where QT huds work while on specific land.
I'm sorry in advance if that is actually no help at all to your situation.
