Hi,

I'm very new to SL so this is a basic question...hoe do I start developing? I see there is a scripts option but hoe do I write a script to create objects and houses and things like that.

Having just bought some land I'd like to build a house? Do I use the right-click|create tool for that or can I get a bit more advanced?

Thanks,

Cameron

Larkham aka Cameron, warmly welcome to your Second Life. Big question you ask, very doable in smaller pieces.

First, to create a new script, you can go to your inventory, CREATE menu ---> NEW SCRIPT. Or, in the contents of an object, there's also a NEW SCRIPT button. Scripts use LSL (Linden Scripting Language) so you can make an object spin, interact, and behave in a variety of other ways. I would highly, highly travelling around SL at your leisure to get more inworld time. You'll understand more just by experiencing what's already been made. Some freebie places (search FIND ---> PLACES for "freebie" and similar keywords) also have a lot of goodies you can examine.

You can build a house, sure. You can buy one if that's easier, but just know this fundament: all objects in Second Life are made out of prims, or primitive building blocks. Put a bunch of boxes together, and you have a makeshift house.

Past this, you may want to look in the Content Creation forums for how to build, script, and make more things in Second Life.

Start with small achievable goals: attemp to make a table, for example. And work yourself up to a whole house.

Cheerio! :)
