I would like to draw attention to the thread below as it raises many important questions with regards to the recent closure of the Satyr sim and the banning of Voted 5 members. It also highlights that there is still very much a need for a platform to air our views and have intelligent and constructive debates. /128/8e/138697/1.htmlMuch thanks.

Why was my thread locked?

re: /128/8e/138697/1.htmlI would like to know why this thread was locked when it was clearly discussing important issues in an intelligent manner? The thread had merely started out as a way to show my snapshots of Satyr but it quickly evolved into a lively debate. I had asked if a moderator could move it to a more suitable area but that request was ignored and the thread instead was locked because one moderator judged that it had "outlived it's usefulness (was it ever?) and would be best suited for a third party forum." The interest in the subject, highlighted by over 1500 views in just 3 days, surely emphasises the need for an official outlet for discussion. To lock down a thread just as it becomes interesting sends out a clear message to the residents that you do want controversial subjects discussed. At the end of the thread Torley provides a link to the faq page for a reason why the thread was locked, this is all I could find : "locking threads with explanation in extreme cases (e.g. although posts have been edited and the parties asked to cease, the attacks don’t stop. There’s no obvious constructive discussion going on)." As there was an "obvious constructive discussion going on" I can't understand why it was locked. Yes, a couple of comments that were made were not constructive but many were, couldn't the ones deemed unfit just have been edited or removed? Many thanks.

Merged these. Arahan -- Certainly good to see constructive discussion that started off the thread. Unfortunately the thread was derailed and became unproductive, which is why it was locked. From the Guidelines it also says: "In addition, threads that are no longer productive may be locked from further posting."
I never like when a good conversation gets dragged down by others who should've taken their disputes into private channels -- it's perfectly reasonable to continue on-topic conversation in a new thread, but I hope it doesn't turn into another ugly brawl.
