@Kelly: missing asset UUID's
11-10-2006 01:42
After my alt had some "object can't be found in database" error messages (those items luckily repaired themselves), I checked the inventory of my main account. I found 4 objects that can't be rezzed. Here the asset UUID list:

b888faf1-7f1a-15dd-c65e-8e4d15963742
b8b7b1dd-4ad2-e2de-dbb3-c0300273708d

Could you repair those please? Thanks :)

Missing Inventory
11-10-2006 08:31
Hi!
Just filed a bug report, but notice on this forum that there's a few other with inventory problems.
In my case, "Failed to find clothing item...." message appears, and "Copy Asset UIID" option is greyed out.

Oooh! - And further to related posts I'd also dearly love to know how we're supposed to back up no copy content "just like any other computer application" when SL doesn't actually offer that option!

*Edit* - Just realised that, of course, the "Copy Asset UIID" option is only available if you have FULL perms for an object. Anything that's no transfer, or no copy or no mod has the option greyed out.

Which makes me extra interested to find out how we're supposed to make back ups of our Inventory "just like any other computer application".

*Edit2* Sorry to keep adding to this, but the more Linden responses I read, the more wound up I get! -
Firstly, the response to back up or make copies of inventory is totally inappropriate - SL offers no options to store inventory outside of its own database, so if there are problems with the database itself......

There's also the issue of No Copy items - whether they're lost from inventory or after rezzing, then, by definition, you won't have a copy! (is Claudia new?).

Secondly - I'm sooo tired of hearing the response to lost inventory "Ask the vendor nicely for a replacement". What if the vendor doesn't stock the item anymore? What if the vendor doesn't exist anymore? What if the vendor is so sick of supplying replacements (or is wary of scams) that they refuse?

If, in the real world, I buy something and then pay for storage,, and the storage place burns down - then I would not expect the storage people to say "Go and ask the shop for a replacement". I would expect the storage people to recompense me. Especially if that storage place had forced me to use their facilities, not my own (and charged me for the honour!).

In other words, SL gives the option to make objects "No copy". SL then forces us to store those objects only in one place and does not allow us to make offline back ups. SL then has problems with the database and the glib response is either "make your own back up" or "get back to the no-fault third party for a replacement".
This policy really makes no sense whatsoever and you wouldn't get away with this in real life!

Items missing from database
11-10-2006 09:46
Hello,

Every time I log on today 11/10 I am getting messages that things are missing from the database. From what I have noticed so far, this has included shapes, gestures and objects. Is there any need to be concerned about this?

Items missing from database - me too
11-10-2006 10:04
I am also getting this problem. Items are still listed as being in my inventory, but cannot be found in the database. So far its been my body shape and hair that has been affected.

Rather alarming, as I've now turned into a bald woman :o)

Anyone know whats causing it?

Items Missing from Data Base
11-10-2006 10:56
I was willing to sort of ignore the "Requested Object is Missing from the Data Base" message I kept getting when I try to wear anything, but it has become increasingly difficult to ignore when about half the items I try to wear are missing, and I am receiving an inordinate amount of IMs with customers requesting that I do something about this.

Please fix this ASAP.

Its going to be a loooooong weekend if LL goes home for the weekend without fixing this :(.

When in doubt, check the blog for current status of grid problems!

The current issue should be abating and hopefully, you will have an inventory-full weekend!
