Up until yesterday I was disabling 'run other scripts' on my popular parcel, in the hopes that this would prevent scripted attachments from running unless they were set to group. As the only way to set an attachment to group is to put it on while you have that group as your active one, I hoped that this would stop people who weren't a member of the landowner group from running scripts on my parcel. This would have two advantages - first it would prevent griefers' weapons from working, and second it would disable the scripted attachments of my guests by default. The first is good given that we get a lot of griefers, and the second is good because most guests don't use their scripted attachments most of the time and it makes sense to have them off by default, so guests have to explicitly enable them for the parcel, in order to reduce lag.
I have since found out that this limit apparently only works up to 30m above the ground.
My questions are :
1) Is it true that disabling 'run other scripts' only works up to 30m above the ground?
2) If so, is this a bug, or by design?
3) If it is by design, why not instead make it work all the way up to 768m above the parcel floor, but provide an exception for scripts which bind the avatar's movement keys AND which use vehicle functions (so people passing overhead in a plane or driving around in a car are not frozen).
4) What is the general logic behind what this possible restriction is meant to do? I hoped it would be useful to prevent griefing and lag, but unfortunately it seems it can't do either of this for a great many popular places, as we are located in the sky to avoid lag on the ground, and this restriction doesn't work in the sky.
I appreciate that this question may take some time to research an answer to. Thank you for your time on this as it matters with regards to how I can manage my popular parcel.
