Sorry it's related to the CoptBot issue, but I have a serious concern for all those purchasing this item.

As the program asks for your username and password, can this be used to access those accounts?

In this I mean I know the username and password can be used to access accounts, but does the CopyBot program pass on this information to a thrid party, or does it keep it within the buyers own PC?

Going beyond the LL announcement to "NEVER NEVER EVER GIVE YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD", and even going beyong the seller of CopyBot "strongly suggesting the buyer use an Alt"; Has LL looked into this part of the programming specifically?

If there is a "possible" security breach with this program that "may" allow thrid parties to access the username and password entered; Can LL announce to the community, to the best of thier ability, of the potential for such?

I ask "can LL" both for the ability to investigate such, and for the possible legal issues involved in annoucing such. I myself highly advise LL to be quite stringent on the legality of this issue from all sides. It is becomming very very dangerous waters to my eyes. Both in econominc impact, and legal impact.

Of course, if the data is secure, to the best of LL's knowledge, then no announcement is needed. I still advise extreme caution on this and intense investigation.

Thank you, and good luck.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

Hey Jessy, similar to what's come up before:

http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/11/07/important-free-money-hack-dont-fall-for-it/

this isn't a situation particular or unique to CopyBot. Social exploits work on a broad net, hoping to trick some of many who get fooled. We do what we can to inform the community of issues arising within Second Life, but alas, have no control over the content of external programs. If in doubt, *don't* give out your name and password.

I can also assure you our devs are keeping a close eye on the workings of CopyBot, both for this and broader issues.
