In Philips speech he defended free accounts by saying they have little or no effect on sims and we can charge them or stop them coming on our land.
I just want to ask you is this really what he is saying and is this the company line forcing you to up rates for us paying customers but before you answer please read this simple Math that I believe every SL resident could understand.
Each free account pays nothing to linden labs = A
Each free account logs onto SL using bandwidth, asset server space = B
Second life only has only finite bandwidth and cpu/storage space = C
A+B affect C
Its simple zee.
Yes I and other could charge or deny access to our land, BUT it seems to me that is Lindens doing the dirty, trying to get us to force non payment accounts or non payment information accounts to become payee accounts if they wish to visit therefore getting lindens out of the tricky situation of free unlimited usage and time accounts.
It shouldn't be our responsibility, NO business viable model can exist where so many free non payment non limited time accounts exist.
Charging us payers more will just alienate the customer base?
or is it simply
OR is the SIMPLE reason SL won’t do that because 50% of free accounts atleast would cancel and then Philip linden wouldn’t be able wave the magic 1 million users banner at investers and big business.

IBM plans on holding town hall meetings in Second Life’s virtual world. Sam Palmisano, Chairman and CEO of IBM, will virtually meet more
than 7000 employees in the game this Tuesday. He even plans on visiting more than 250 on IBM’s virtual island.
The company plans on investing more than $10 million dollars into Second Life and wants a secure way of holding meetings with clients
and other employees. It already meets more than 20 clients in the game.”
We all know who really matters to SL.
