I have had a number of times where a Friend's calling card stops working. Ie, although I still have their calling card and they tell me I'm still in their friends list, they don't show up in my friends list. If I get together with them and re-exchange cards (and I now have two cards) then they are on my friends list again.

Shoshana, I've seen this several times but it turned out to be confusion--when you delete someone from your Friends list or they delete you, you should both be gone from each other's Friends lists. You may want to swap screenshots as visual evidence. However, you can still have each other's calling cards (which are separate from Friends; you can delete a calling card and still have someone in your Friends list).
In the event only one of you sees the other on the Friends list, it could be a bug! First, attempt to find a method to reproduce this and get it to happen again reliably. It sounds like it may be easier because you have friends involved in this. Then, from HELP menu ---> REPORT BUG and send in all the good details.
