Tolerating the god mode object

Hi,

I have noticed that some tests have already been carried out on the "god mode" tool. I am concerned that this will lead to LL deciding to tolerate this tool as long as all "potentially damaging" features are blocked at the server.

The reason is that doing so will be tantamount to penalising residents who do not download the tool, by not giving them access to features that you are apparantly happy for people to use in the SL client. Essentially it will have the same result as entering a partnership to allow a resident business to sell a binary-coded-in feature of the SL client (which they didn't even code themselves!) for a profit.

I must therefore ask for reassurance that either this tool will not be tolerated at all, and the client will stop it working at all, or that the extra features in the client (such as the untethered camera) will be completely unlocked in the client for all residents to use.

Thanks.

*nod* We're currently watching this and discussing what should happen. Each Linden has a different take on it reflecting our perspectives on the matter. I, for example, favor removing the flight restriction for all just like the God thing does; I find the limit is absolutely ridiculous given that SL is a 3D world and you can teleport high by default (and I've examined counterpoints to it already). Others bring up privacy concerns.

I don't have more news on this yet, but this is one of those ongoing things... will add your comments to our file on it, dear Yumi. :)
