Okay, so its been 2 days and aside from the new rumors im hearing of "theres a new copybot that can save the mimiced(sp) clothing!" it is my understanding that if ppl are selling clothing they are the most safe. Also, copybot can not copy things INSIDE something, as its just copying what it sees. So if youre selling items inside a box, it may copy the box, but not the clothing, scripts, animations, contents inside.

Im a little unclear on 3 things, though.

1. Builds. Copybot can copy any build it sees, correct? When its copied Im told it ends up in the bots inventory as "object" and it has full perms. This means, this alt can distribute the build it copied, correct?

If so....

2. Since copybot can copy builds and distribute them, how do we go about proving the build was ours? Its one thing to own proof of clothing in RL and file a DMCA in SL, but what about builds? My builds are used exclusively in my rental community and I do not sell them- if I see my builds elsewhere, what can be done? All my homes are original designs by me, but how would I prove that?

Something different...

3. I heard that IF copybot does copy you, and all of your clothing/skin, your shape and clothing/skin he can not have because of "baking" or something... Is it true that the copybot can not go into "edit appearance" mode and see what #s your shape is set to and get your shape that way. or even go into edit appearance and do a "save shape"- I assume that would nto work to save clothing as hes not actually wearing clothing, but it just appears as though he is.

Can you shed some light on these 3 issues? I really also feel you guys should, if you have not, see what all copybot can and can not do and post an official word in the blog. you know, "Without knowledge people perish"- i think many might be panicing when there is no real need to be, for them atleast.

On another note, I really feel sorry for those furniture makers, and anyone else who sells prim based items. And i just wonder if there really *is* that other version of copybot ive been hearing about that can save contents inside a prim it sees, and save the clothing it mimics.

Please get back to me on these 3 issues. thanks1

Hi Jesseaitui,

1. Yes. Copybot can make full perm versions of anything it sees.
2. It's difficult to confirm that you made the original. Because you do not sell them, any homes not used in your business can be considered illegitimate and we can act on that. Report them immediately should you find any.
3. I had someone give me a demonstration of Copybot and it copied my shape as well as my attachments and my custom textures. So if you see a Blue Linden out there that isn't me, report him.
