From: Robin Linden (2) Any objects that "disappeared" because they were identified as "goo" during an attack will NOT appear after tomorrow's deploy.
So, basically there were two processes: one doesn't allow objects to rez) and one actively removes content from the world. So, in other words... We're hooped. All these products that have been working flawlessly for months/years, been in place, depended on, etc... are just outright hosed. No explanation, no compensation, no chance to reverse the blunder, nothing. We're just hosed. Am I reading that right?

What should such fellows as I do crawling between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all; believe none of us.

Robin: Saywhat?

From: someone Here's what I've been able to find out Jillian... (1) The "splish" object that may have worked before the weekend probably was identified as "goo" and should start working again after tomorrow's release. (2) Any objects that "disappeared" because they were identified as "goo" during an attack will NOT appear after tomorrow's deploy. So, basically there were two processes: one doesn't allow objects to rez) and one actively removes content from the world. "Splish" is not and was not grey-goo. Does this mean that LL can wreck content capriciously and sit back and not care about the damage done, all in the name of what appear to be innefectual attempts not to stop grey goo, but mitigate it? Mind you, this is not simply my splashable water. This gets used by other content makers in their pools, baths, fountains, landscaping... This is more than a little bit of damage.

One Rez = Grey Goo?

I'm hoping this grey goo overkill was simply an emergency stopgap in a difficult situation.
As it stands my waterslides and dive block systems (which rez a single ball for a av to slide - or dive, and replace themselves for the next user) are classified as 'grey goo'.
These are single instant rezzes from a parent object - not recursive by any stretch of the imagination.
As are the ripples in my water, and the splash effects.
I can rez my originals from my inv (the advantage of being the creator) and have them work.... however my customers aren't afforded that luxury.
neither resetting the items nor taking to inv and rerezzing will fix this.
I'm hoping this is some update thing that will be fixed in a couple of day - or I'll have (no exaggeration) thousands of customer IM's to deal with.
