Textures being dropped, interrupting IM's

This has been a problem for as long as I can remember...if I am typing something in IM to someone or a group IM, and a texture is dropped on me, my typing defaults to the main chat window. I have almost said some embarrassing stuff at times in open chat that was meant for a private IM because of this. Yes, its my fault I suck at typing and still look at the keyboard LOL, luckily I almost always catch it right before I hit "Enter"...but is there a possibility of ever fixing this? I am sure I am not alone.
