As I've suggested in the blog thread on the subject, it would be extremely easy for you to at least tell us whether the missing inventory problem is caused by DB corruption or by some new bug in the asset server code. You've been provided with the locations of specially set up test objects in-world that will reproduce the missing items bug 100% of the time. You could easily use a test AV account with practically no inventory to reproduce the bug, and then you could examine the relevant DB tables to determine whether the database records themselves are still intact or whether the record of the lost item is missing or corrupted.
I'm hoping that this problem is not caused by database corruption, but instead by a bug in the asset server that is preventing the asset server from fully populating the client inventory list. Either way, it would be extremely easy for you to make this determination and report to the user community whether our items are ultimately SAFE and INTACT or not. I think that this would ease a lot of the tensions and worry that affected residents are currently experiencing.
Please get your devs on the issue to at least report on this aspect of the problem so we know whether its safe to keep logging in for now. If my DB records are intact I won't mind if some items "go missing" for a while until you can get this bug fixed. If, however, DB corruption is the culprit, then you've got a major issue on your hands and I think people should be warned that logging in could potentially result in permanent item loss.
