Is it possible to rez avatars without connections to a person.
I'm thinking of this for possable manequins, npc bartenders, AI containers, dance partners, etc.
What would be the limitations/drawbacks to this? (I'm thinking that an avatar probably as a lot of server resources associated with it.)
Thank you.

It's currently not possible to do this, unfortunately, Tinker. I remember talk of it really steaming up near 1.6, and it appears that with more machinima creations, in order to easier create crowds and "dummies" to be used in many kinds of scenes, it would really be nifty. Some with experience from other virtual worlds like ActiveWorlds will also bring up their memories with "bots" and the like. Not to mention, so I'll mention it, using an NPC as a mannequin to preview clothes and attachments. My contention with current bartenders inworld, and I'm sure you know what I mean, is that they're either too bulky or too flat. If these NPCs were to use the same meshes as current avatars and show a sophistication of detail, yes, having many of them in a scene would use a certain amount of resources, although obviously not as much as each individual connection to an actual person. Strangely enough, there doesn't seem to be a feature vote for it. Perhaps I'm missing it, but feel free to start something up.
