The maximum number of avatars in a sim?

Hi, I am confused about the number of avatars permitted into a sim.

I have been watching one sim for much of this morning, which has a theoretical 40 avatar limit.

For most of the day it has been running between 40 and 43 avatars.

I am unable to get into the sim when it drops to 40, yes a few minutes later it is back up to 43.

I asked in live help and it was suggested that people being tp'd in would be how this was done, but the Linden was unable to elucidate further.

From my experiecnce, this doesn't work, as I have been in that particular sim and tried to tp an avatar in when the total is 40 and the tp is cancelled due to a full sim.

Could you please tell me a few things.

What is the absolute maximum? Is 43 that figure as I have not seen more than 43 avatars in the sim.

Can you tp someone into the sim when the total is at 40 and above?

Why can't I access the sim or tp people when the total reaches 40, but evidently someone else is able?

Can I log off while in the sim and relog into it when the total is at 40 or above (I do have a small piece of group land there)?

Confused and keen to find out the reasons.

Thanks for your partial response, but it is not a real answer.

'I believe' is hardly the defnitive purpose of Linden Answers. Had my enquiry been read there are 4 parts to the enquiry, One is partly answered, the other three are ignored.

Additionally had my question been read then the answer 'you need to be the land owner' would have been more clearly stated. I said, I own group land in the sim. So does this count as owned land?

I realise no Linden re-reads their posting once delivered, perfectly understandably. However I will attempt to receive a reply by telephone support on Monday and failing that will post my question in the forum again, with a link to this answer.

I believe that you would need to be a landowner, and on your plot, or a Linden to teleport someone into a full sim.
