Ctrl and Shift on Select Texture?

So there's a question that's been bugging me for the last 5 minutes since a friend of mine discovered it for the first time and conned me into actually thinking about it for a change...

In every other user interface known to mankind, you hold down CTRL to select multiple individual objects and SHIFT to select huge swathes of objects. Why is 'Select Texture' a unique departure from this time-honored tradition? With Select Texture on, if you hold down SHIFT you can select multiple individual faces on as many prims as you want. If you hold down CTRL instead, it selects EVERY face on the prim you click on. WHY?

I have to wonder now how many newbies (or agingbies) are/were confused by this strange inconsistency.

Please, won't someone think of the newbies?

Ah Karsten--while it could be a confusing RX (Resident eXperience) issue, you're actually the first person I've ever heard observe this. And while we like to adhere to conventions for ease-of-use and consistency, in this case, holding down Ctrl also allows you to rotate a prim in Edit mode. That rotate widget gets in the way of selecting faces. Also, all faces of a prim can be textured at once by simply selecting any other mode like "Position" and going to the Texture tab.

Do you have a better design approach to this? Please suggest it!
