This is a thought I had coinciding with a quite an interesting idea I thought of.
Basically, as it is now llHTTPRequest, while very much appreciated, is still a bit nerfed. With good reason though, as web-communication can be jittery at times and not always dependable.

So I was wondering if LL has any plans to improve llHTTPRequest, for example using the method I have outlined in the thread SL web hosting!?

(After we've had a big bug fix release or two of course, though the idea isn't all that hard to set-up)

I understand that thread to be proposing that LL offer basic web hosting services connected to user accounts. At present, our thinking is that the market of web hosting is quite saturated with companies that do percisely what you suggest. I don't think he have a chance of doing it as well, or as cheaply, as they can.

The issues of throttling llHTTPRequest stem from strain on the resources of the simulators, not on bandwidth issues. Hence, just because the hosts were on the same internal network, wouldn't allow us to un-throttle llHTTPRequest.

Hence, it seems to me that our only advantage would be that it would connected directly to your SL account. Do you people think that would be enough of an benefit to warrant charging more than the current going rate for such things?

I'm interested to know what is 'nerfed' with it. Details appreciated as we plan the next round of fixes and improvements. Is it just the issues of throttling?
