The New Object Blocking Feature Totally S**KS! __ (I.M.H.O.)

Can LL do anything to lessen the impact of this?

The new Object Blocking Feature is a nightmare for pilots. A pilot will be flying along enjoying a flight and BAM! > He/She sees a little blue box appear in the lower-right corner saying "......object can't enter parcel,....yada, yada, yada," and the next thing he/she knows is his/her aircraft is gone and he/she is 1000ms underground in an unstoppable spin which requires a relog to get out of. There is no warning whatsover -- you can't see it. feel it, smell it, or taste it until it's too late!

During Beta testing of this feature I commented on this. Evidently LL could care less about the activity of flying aircraft in SL, which could be one of its best features.

"New Parcel Object Blocking Feature ??

The Beta Release notes for 1.13 include:

* Parcel owners can block objects from entering their parcels

How high in altitude will this blocking function operate??

I am concerned about the effect of this option on flying aircraft in SL. If it would operate to block objects at altitudes say above 100 meters it could kill flying aircraft in SL.

It sounds like most parcel owners would enable this option to prevent projectiles of various kinds from entering their land. If so, and if it were to have effects at higher altitudes above ground level, it would ruin whatever enjoyment is left to flying (after the problems with Sim border crossings and security fences).

Is Linden Labs now taking its cue from the now discredited Presidency of George Bush by placing resident "security" above our personal in-world freedoms ??"

To Which Kelly Linden replied:

" I believe that it currently is to infinity (and beyond). You make a good point though, and the feature can be adjusted. "

Kelly's already fixed this so vehicles can go into "Object Entry"-blocked areas. :)

If you find otherwise, please send a solid repro via Help menu > Report Bug.

And we love pilots.
