Okay, I figure it's about time I need to admit to myself I have to ask. I am about to move, and I am not sure if I can get anything more than dialup where I will be yet (my family lives in the middle of nowhere... my uncle has dsl but we're not sure if it'll be down my road yet when I first get there). Therefore, I may be away from SL for a while.

I might try to get in on the forums still, but given the lag I experience even on highspeed somehow I imagine if I'm on dialup my visits will be infrequent.

So I have a couple questions:

First, what does it require to keep an account "active"? Will logging into the website periodically be enough?

How long can I stay out without getting my account deactivated? I have full intention to come back, so I don't want this to happen if I end up without good internet for a year or something. I've bought a LOT of stuff and I reeeeeally don't want to have to spend a few months rebuilding an inventory, especially since I customized a lot of my stuff.

In the event that my account does get deactivated, what do I do to get it back?

I'll be moving on Saturday so an answer before then would be helpful. Probably should have thought to post about this sooner...

Hi again Lyrak. :)

You may have seen some previous answers I made on here about the same thing. Just search if you'd like to see them, but ... short answer is: if your account's in good status (e.g., not delinquent or disabled for another reason like abuse), then it won't get deactivated. This applies to Premium accounts which are being paid for, and you can leave a Basic account in "hibernation" indefinitely.

I would nevertheless, as is a good idea with computer data in general, leave backups of your stuff with a trusted friend, or keep an extra copy inworld where you could retrieve it later.

Hope this helps ya... be well and have a safe trip to where you're going!
