Some ideas for SL

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post these ideas, but I just wanted to share a couple of thoughts for improvements I had while using SL.

1. Why not have the group lists organized like the (now much improved) friends list, so that when looking at group info, all those who are online are at the top of the list? I think this is a great feature on the friends list and could be very helpful here too.

2. In the Search window, when searching for places, why not have it so that a double click of a place name TPs you there? This should make things quicker for people. For example, I often seem to search with my chat bar open and then have to shut this before I can see the TP button.

3. Is there any way to improve the edit appearance colour picker? I sometimes want to have something the same colour as an editable object (for example, a hair base and wearable hair pieces), but the colour selection mode for these two things is very different, so I find it impossible to match the colours.

4. Is it possible to have folders within the drop down Landmarks list on Map? I have so many landmarks it can take a while to scroll down the list! Perhaps we could allow subfolders? Or perhaps allow the search regions box to do landmarks or friends too?

Anyway, I just thought I'd share those ideas. There may be an obvious solution to some of these things. If so, sorry!

I really enjoy SL and look forward to seeing continuing improvements--and to meeting lots more great people.

Hey Logan!

You're off to a *great* start thinking creatively about SL.

There aren't (yet) plans to do what you suggested, but they're a nice quartet.

(1) Good one. I'll check this out further in my aggregate queue (I keep track of 100s of Resident Experience issues and coordinate with fellow Lindens about their doability).

(2) Yes, it sure would be simpler--it might startle and confuse some but I can see why I'd use it. Sort of like how you can already double-click on the map.

(3) I know what you're talking about, it's SO hard with eye and hair colors. I've heard this come up before but no plans to change the Appearance controls--I think this idea might be part of a more complete overhaul, tho.

(4) No, but I've long wanted to do this; my web browser has crazy bookmarks and I need to sort 'em out!

What I'd also recommend is what you feel strongly about, get it entered and formalized in the Feature Voting Tool. Get other Residents interested. Things happen here in large part when it's clear they'll benefit many in the community. Plus, you can make new friends--it's what happened to me when I started my Second Life and started suggesting myriad things. And then what I can help you do is advocate for them to the developers, and show how the time put into making them happen would result in great gains. Especially little tweaks that require "low effort" but generate "high impact".

We have so many feature suggestions sent our way and the really, really good ones should never get lost. They're kind of like pets searching for a good home.

I encourage you warmly to continue thinking about how we can make things better, and hopefully along the way, we can make some of your wishes come true too. :)

[UPDATE] I realized there's an easier solution to (1). In Group Information > General tab, click "Last Login" column header. That sorts Members accordingly by Online status!
