Hello Lindens,
I like alot of people would like to know the answer to some questions

The real one being when will we actually leave beta.

No other game out there may be able to match the freedom of SL but at the same level, no other game out there would ever go public release with so many problems.

You changed the tos to better defend your inability to take action and fix problems so the onus is all on us.

1)I paid for an island 14 months ago I was basically lead to believe I was paying for the hardware and setup (rental comes later) later we find out we share a server with another person, wow these servers better be some really good hardware because I myself have built server units in my job.

2)You keep making changes to scripting language, code and design which destroys and made alot of items not work, oh yes its not your fault you don't haveto take responsibility ? Do any of us buy a piece of business software then 3 months into comercial release they change the code so radicly our software we wrote on it doesn't work and they say "its your own problem"

3)You make a big hoo haaa about it being our world but you make sweeping changes for our "benefit"

4)You remove the forums our only pretty much uncensored place to tell you our REAL feelings

5)You create a teen grid but you remove age/payment verification so if a child wanders into our sim an adult place and her parent sees our adult images is it also OUR fault because you can't be bothered ?

6)THe lag only gets worse, the texture problems get worse, the bugs increase.

7)and to add insult to injury after nearly each patch people find they need to upgrade there pc to play your game.

8)Traffic system totally broken and actually encourage camping chairs etc

Alot of the old players, the good people have left, replaced by thieves and con artists only interested in sl because its a rl money making thing. these people are not comunity.

I stay for 2 reasons, my friends and loves, if there was anywhere out there anything near to this bug ridden fest i'd stop paying my $200 per month and say goodbye to my investment of time and effort in SL

Please note I don't play this game for a profit, every person with a vendor or shop on my land is free and I charge no rent I came to SL for community, for fun.. but Now I spend my time on other games where my P3.4 2gbddr2 memory and ATI pciexpress 800 256mb are able to mean i can play and enjoy without crashes or lag. I come back on to be with my loves and to speak to friends.

You burnt me out.

Tell me it will change please

Taking the easy way out

Along time ago a simple exploit was used to create large prims huge ones, now they can nolonger be created but are still usable and can be exploited but also have huge benefits

please tell me Lindens why you are once again taking the easy not in customers best interest way out.

Here is my post
I just had this conversation on live help

[11:41] Welcome to Live Help, where volunteers help their fellow residents with questions about Second Life. Please enter your question to begin, and then allow a few moments for available helpers to respond. Please do not close your Live Help window until you are finished. If your question is not answered, please try again later or check www.secondlife.com/support. [11:42] Calranthe Charlton: Hello, I have a question, I have access to some of the huge prims created long ago when it was possible, now IS it actually illegal for me to use some, see I have my own island its not connected to anyone and well im sure you can understand the benefit
[11:42] Calranthe Charlton: of me thinking of making a sky city with them with like 7 prims giant size as the base
[11:43] Calranthe Charlton: instead of 400
[11:53] Calranthe Charlton: can anyone answer this ?
[11:53] Harmony Linden: I believe that you will not be able to use them.
[11:53] Calranthe Charlton: In what way
[11:53] Harmony Linden: After the next update (or possibly the one after that).
[11:53] Harmony Linden: They cause problems in the asset server.
[11:54] Calranthe Charlton: then lindens better fix islands because this would have been an excellent way for me to lower my prim count on the $1250 super fast snail :/ sorry but it hadto be said
[11:56] Calranthe Charlton: thankyou for the answer though :/ although i know enough about dbase math to know its a false answer the virtual number system it wouldn't affect badly

Now I didn't really want to sound so annoyed and I understand the exploit chances with this BUT.

We who bought our own sims who payed $1250 and pay 200 per month, the island servers lag like hell, we pay through the nose but still haveto limit ourselves so much, when I bought a sim I thought great a race track a hangar a plane etc etc...

not if I want to be able to walk ..

These giant prims would have made it possible for us to be able to build houses, statues, landing ways, roads using 10's of prims instead of 1000's of prims which means less cpu time used.

And if your asset server is so lame you can't kick in a simple varchar or long variable from 10 - 100 - 256 etc then its time to get off the boat and grab a life jacket.

Yes some could abuse these huge sims but if the way you returned prims wasn't just based on a central point and counted edges too it would stop it.

OR give it as an island option tick here if you want large prims allowed

Its simple math a big house made of 560 prims, or all the floor and 4 walls done with 1 prim or maybe fix the islands so we get what we paid for a FULL server to ourselves not 50% and able to use 15000 prims withoutt it becoming unusable..

PLEASE reconsider this

A single prim floor for a shop without the texture problems or connection headaches
A single prim house
A single prim lake surface with a texture on that doesn't glitch at the conection
A race track of 1 prim so you don't fall through at it tries to rez the next 10m segment
imagine the statues the lessening of lag and computational drain.

I'm sorry to hear you're burned out, Calranthe--your questions aren't ones you're asking alone. I've answered them many times in the past. Please have a look through SL Answers; some of them relate to specific issues already covered (numerous times, too!). I think you also have some misunderstandings about how some things work, and instead of letting you have those doubts, it's important to clarify them.

For example, if you notice a specific bug that's wrecked content, please have a reproduction. Send it from Help menu > Report Bug. What good does that do? It's resulted in several posts I've made before on the Official Linden Blog, which are about fixes directly in response to pains that came up in the community. So, yes, there have been changes.

Also, these forums have never been uncensored--but some Resident-run forums are! Again, and again, I receive no shortage of feedback from multiple channels.

We do want to help, but if we can address some of the finer specifics then we can put them together. Otherwise it's one big scary cloud, which is neither (1) practical nor (2) realistic to assist you with!
