Using Real World City Names in Sims

I was told that "Real World city names are generally restricted from use as they are being reserved for internal development" in regards to naming a sim, but it seems that there are many Real World City (even whole country) names in use:
  1. Beverly Hills
  2. Venice Beach
  3. Adventure Island (A Universal Studios Theme Park)
  4. American Samoa
  5. Camelot
  6. Chinatown
  7. Los Angelas
  8. Ireland
  9. Hawaii
  10. Key West
  11. Key Largo
  12. Laguna Beach
  13. New Orleans
  14. Orlando
So what is the deal with this? Does LL just pick and choose which can and cannot be used? I'd like to know because it seem as if most of these sims listed are private sims and were named real world city names. Is there a list of "reserved names" that one should reference somewhere before planning a sim?

Thank you in advance.:)

Hey MadamG, while I don't know your source--

there are many "real world city names" which are the same too. For example, the many Springfields in the USA.

Within Second Life, we don't have a list of "reserved names", but we will happily comply if there are complications (legal or otherwise) with picking out a name--otherwise, it's much simpler.

An example of a conflict with "internal development" might be if we were going to bring up a new batch of mainland sims and one of them has already been named Shooka, but a Resident wants to name their island that too. Rare but--just sayin'.

On the whole, we like to keep it general and friendly.
