As there has been no further information from anyone as to why the blog problems are occuring, and an estimation of their fixing, I add the following comment in the hope that someone may read and take action.
I am still not getting my posts appearing on the Linden blog, and they are not showing as held for moderation either.
I took the issue up with Wordpress customer support, and got the follow response:
"Akismet is not catching your comment therefore I assume they are using moderation. Many large blogs on here use this facility and following this change they may have brought this on in the short-term. But your comments will be there."
So, please confirm - are you using moderation or not, and if so, why, and why is there no mention of this fact anywhere on the blog?

There's no intention to use moderation -- we've already decided that. But even with the other software the first post anyone made needed to be cleared, in effect creating a 'white list'.
The change in software caused everyone to have to start over. I just cleared over 50 comments from moderation, so those of you who have already posted shouldn't have any additional problems. _____________________
