When a resident files an abuse report, we receive an email that states,
"Your Abuse Report has been investigated and resolved. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, Linden Lab will not disclose the resolution of abuse/community standards violations with Second Life residents, except when necessary to introduce a new or amended policy. Linden Lab will not disclose incident details including (but not limited to): identity of the reporter, details of chat logs, resolution of incidents, and suspensions or banning of Second Life Residents.
The Police Blotter, located on the Second Life website, <http://secondlife.com/support/blotter.php>, keeps a running record of abuse resolutions. Although specific information about incidents is not revealed, basic information about the most current disciplinary actions can be found there."
However, when looking on the police blotter, there may be nothing that gives the impression that anything was done about the abuse report. In this case why are you sending a message referring residents to look on the police blotter if nothing was done?
In some cases I fear that some residents may not be disciplined for their actions AT ALL. If I file an abuse report, I want to KNOW that SOMETHING WAS DONE. I don't care to know WHAT, but I want the assurance that the person I reported wasn't given special treatment. If the case is that the abuse report was ignored, I want to know that as well. If the abuse report didn't warrant any action at all, I want to know that as well.
The email that we receive is fine if there's something on the police blotter that will give the distinct impression that the situation was handled by LL. Otherwise, why send that email when nothing was done? What's the purpose of filing an abuse report if LL is not going to act on the complaint or play favorites by not disciplining consistently?
