Will the announcement blog be made more visible when the forum get's restructured. i.e. display one or more of the recent announcement titles in the forum's display or will you have to check the blog directly on the off chance it has some new news?

Yes, it'll be more visible. Not necessarily on the forums (ideally we've been hoping to have a global "ticker tape" display for a long time), but on the website, long-term within Second Life itself, and as part of the expanding SL blogosphere, as witnessed on World of SL:
We're transitioning it over and we can never be obvious enough. =o)
