as it has been presented many times in forum posts and in feature voteing has the idea of a private server finaly come true? the reason i am asking this is if you look under the debug settings in the ctrl alt D client menu there is a option called custom server with this description (specifies IP adress or hostname of userserver to wich you connet) and under that what looks like a space to put in a URL. also under the server tab there is a option called "save region state" that may be used to save every object from a private grid to be imported to the main grid (most likely at the cost of so many L per amount of prims). i just made this thread to ask the lindens and public weather this is jsut a missunderstanding or if there may actualy be something like a privately hosted server for the general public in future updates. well thanks for you'r time in reading this and if you know anything about this please post it here.

It's not something widely open to the public. What we HAVE done, to give some background, is a "Grid in a Box":

Sometimes saving region states is done for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes.

So while this isn't a commonly-accessible reality as of today, we are making progress in a way which could be seen as compatible with the many requests we hear to "run your own grid". :)
