Ok, I know the grid is down, but I also know that sometimes the update is made available to download even thought the grid is down. So I try to log in and it tells me that I must download a new version of Second Life in order to play. I think, great they got the download ready to install, so I download it. I then tell it to install and then suddenly I get the message that Secondlife 1.10.6 already exist on my computer. So I try two more times. It seems the ole, "Must download previous version of the software" Bug is at it again.
Anyway the system is telling me to download the latest version of SL, however it thinks the latest version is 1.10.6 And I recently uninstalled SL and re-installed it using the most current version located on the download site of Second Life which is 1.10.6

Ok i´am from, German so my English isn´t the best !
i will try Sl so i have done the download und Install think´s Now i wanne login. but the Programm say´s there is a New Version you must download .... Blabla so i download it. but this typ of "error" comes again!! Whats coing on? Is the Patchwork done or not?? P.S.: sorry for my English |

Someone screwed up, I would never have thought a new version of SL was really coming out, because the download page has the exact same file. Someone at LL please update the server to alert those logging in that the grid is actually down, and save them the trouble of constantly downloading the same client repeatedly.
I also suggest a patcher to make the upgrades much smaller to prevent a FULL download from occurring. I recommend the Clickteam Patcher. I have used it extensively, as have some of my friends that develop software, and it works extremely well. There is even the option to include data to update as many versions as you wish to the current version, as long as the information on each version is added. In effect, someone 3 or even 5 versions behind can benefit from a smaller patch rather than the full download. I ask that you evaluate this method of updating the SL software. |

Sorry for the earlier inconvenience with Second Life not being smarter about the version number; I realize it was very confusing going in a loop like that! Our Support got asked the question a lot too. We do plan to address this in the future. We also do have ongoing considerations re: a smaller patcher. SIVA's Preview 1.11.0.9 has now become the Main Grid version as you can see @ http://secondlife.com/download Currently, you can use the ADITI Preview and play with the new estate land sales and new Groups system. Keep checking the Preview page for further updates. _____________________
