When a user turns on the "Set Busy" function, does SL truly stop downloading nearby chat or does it still download nearby chat and just not display it on the user's screen?

It still downloads, and you can view it, even when in Busy mode. Click the History button to the left of the chatbar; this is also a way to catch up on chat missed during being in Busy.  |
