That I know, among the first things I did when getting SL was set it to 1 000 MB chache. I also often clear it, often necesserly several times a day unfortunaly.
Now, would it be beneficial to have larger chache size? I could give it 25 000 MB (if location could be changed). Would it be good to be able to change location of chache? One could dedicate a disk to it allowing for faster access to the data. Most residents likely can't or won't do this, it would still help those of us who can and will.
If larger chache and placing it at a location where it can be faster accessed would increase performance, client side and/or server side, are you likely to look into implimenting these settings sometime soon?

Here are steps for moving your cache location.
Your C: drive must use NTFS format (open Windows Explorer, right click on C: and select properties to check) You also need LinkD.exe from Microsoft and Administrator rights on your Computer. Make a new (empty) directory where you want the cache to be, for example D:\SecondLifeCache: D:\>mkdir SecondLifeCache Locate your SL cache, usually C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\SecondLife\cache where %USERNAME% is your Windows logon username. Move all the files in this folder to your newly created folder. Or you can just delete them if you want and have SL create a new one (and download all the stuff again), but the SL cache folder must be empty. Link your SL cache folder to the newly created one: "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\LinkD.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\SecondLife\cache" "D:\SecondLifeCache" Start SL and watch it use up space on D: instead of C:
