Hiya I've been playing online games since Ultima Online.Since then I've played the whole range of traditional mmorpg's. As you can imagine I'm finding Second Life a totally new and interesting experience. Unfortunately tho being a complete newbie and used too 'experience' or 'level' driven games I find myself at a bit of a loss. I've spent about an hour wandering about looking and interacting with stuff but have a couple of questions. Firstly how do I tell how many linden dollars I have? And how do I make money in game? Are there jobs I can do? Or crafts I can learn? Or being a newbie am I completely missing the point? Be gentle with me I only ask these things because I genuinely wish to learn how to play in this environment.

You L$ balance is shown in the upper right corner of Second Life.
Second Life is a free form world of user created content. The best way to make money, in my opinion, is to figure out something other people want enough to part with their money. Some people design clothes, some design and build houses, some do scripting, some host parties etc. The following link has some good ideas, including another link to some existing Second Life businesses. http://secondlife.com/whatis/businesses.php It is also important to note that you don't have to have a job. You could just go to parties and contests and other events, build a home, play in the sandboxes etc. You may never need the extra L$. If you find you do need more L$ you can purchase those by clicking on the blue L$ button next to your L$ balance in world, or by visiting https://secondlife.com/currency/. _____________________
