Is there a way to change your SL first name? If not, is there a way to hide it or completely get rid of it? Also, I heard there was a way to make your own last names. Would that help?

Hi ServantGirl, sorry, you can't. It says on the Join page:
https://secondlife.com/join/ Choose Your Second Life Name Your Second Life name is your unique in-world identity. You're able to create your own first name and select from a wide variety of last names. Please choose your Second Life name carefully, since it can't be changed later. Creating and changing last names has been discussed for awhile--no firmer timeline on this, but please see: /20/e6/53959/1.html and do forum searches for more info.  _____________________
