Because there are legitimate and legal applications for any copying device, in SL or RL, the issue boils down to individuals infringing upon someone's copyright.

Pardon me???

I would possibly agree that a backup tool that makes an EXACT COPY of an item, while leaving Content Creator attribution and ALL OBJECT PERMISSIONS INTACT might arguably have a "legitimate and legal application".

But CopyBot does NOT do that. CopyBot REMOVES AND REPLACES CREATOR ATTRIBUTION. CopyBot ERADICATES OBJECT PERMISSION RESTRICTIONS. It doesn't even make a USABLE copy of any complex item that has contents or scripts that are needed for use.

The SOLE PURPOSE of CopyBot is to STEAL someone else's work and present it as your own.

Your argument is as fallacious as stating "Because some drugs have legitimate medical uses, we can not make posession of Crack Cocaine illegal. You'll have to catch the person USING the drug to arrest him for having it." Give me a break, and stop insulting us.

Please explain what LEGAL uses a product that rapes a content creator's IP rights has. I would me MOST interested in your opinions on that point!

Making a copy of something is not always a copyright violation. Please visit the government's site to familiarize yourself with copyright law.
